The Introduction of the Korean Cultural Heritage Society

The Korean Cultural Heritage Society (the ¡°KCHS¡±) is a private, non-profit organization incorporated under the Societies Act (British Columbia) on June 6, 2007 as ¡°Hanin Heritage Society¡±. On December 6, 2007, ¡°Hanin Heritage Society¡± changed its name to ¡°Korean Cultural Heritage Society¡± to reflect the broader cultural scope of the organization¡¯s purpose. The KCHS traces its roots to 2002, when its predecessor entity ¡°Hanin Heritage Society¡± was first established by a group of dedicated Korean descent cultural artists to showcase and preserve Korean cultural arts and music through organizing events like the annual Korean Heritage Day Festival. In 2003, the Annual Korean Heritage Festival Day was declared by the Province of British Columbia as the official Korea Day in British Columbia. Since then, the annual Korean Heritage Day Festival has grown to become the most anticipated and celebrated event for the Korean community in the Greater Vancouver area.

Today, the KCHS continues to promote and strengthen multiculturalism in Canada by organizing cultural festivals, performances, exhibits, seminars and other public events, and to promote and encourage the development or establishment of other activities or endeavours that fall within the objectives of the KCHS.

The leadership of the KCHS is in the hands of Mr. Ken Beck Lee, a prominent business person who serves the KCHS in the capacity of President and Chairman of the board of directors of the KCHS. Mr. Ken Beck Lee is supported by a board of directors of the KCHS drawn from the fields of business, professions, academia, arts and music, media and public affairs.
